Beauty on a Budget (dress) pt. 4

Dress

Look good, feel good. If you don’t spend money anywhere else, spend it on your dress. That being said you don’t have to spend thousands on a dress like you see on TV. Beautiful dresses can be very affordable too. Check out your local dress shops for dresses. Small local dress shops generally have better prices and some of the same dresses as large dress shops. Make sure you let them know what your budget is when walking in because the easiest way to blow your budget is to fall in love with a dress you can’t afford. If you can’t find what you’re looking for at a dress shop you can also check a consignment shop. There are several consignment shops like the Glass Slipper that hold people’s dresses and allow you to either buy or rent them. This is a great way to try on dresses and make sure they fit properly and are what you want. If you don’t find what you’re looking for at a consignment shop, the next suggestion I would have is to check Facebook marketplace. This is a great way to get a wedding gown for a great price. Especially in East Idaho, tons of dresses are listed on Facebook marketplace either for rent or for sale. If you want a designer gown for half the price this is an excellent way to do that. If you still can’t find what you’re looking for, shopping online for a dress is an option, but just keep in mind that there are several horror stories where people buy dresses online and do not get what they expected. Get a dress that makes you feel beautiful because even though you only get it wear it once, this is the only chance you’ll get to wear a wedding gown.

Besides getting a dress, get your groom a well tailored suit. If your groom isn’t going to wear the suit again, renting is definitely the option to go. You can rent from a place like Men's Wearhouse or Heart's Bridal. Several bridal shops also offer suit and tux rentals so start there. These places have the ability to measure and fit you perfectly for a suit and for a very reasonable price. If you’re wanting to go the buying route check online. Check places like Zara, which is where we ordered my husband’s suit for our wedding. They have so many options and you can even get the suit custom made to fit your groom’s build properly. It’s a very affordable option as well, but make sure you leave enough time to get it shipped in time for your wedding.

What else can you do? Ask your guests to dress up too. It’s your special day, you’re having a special meal with special people, why not have your guests feel awesome too. Ask them to dress up when you send out your invitations. At high end weddings the guests are always dressed nicely to match the bride and groom. You only have one wedding day and only one day to wear the dress of your dreams. If you’re going to spend money on anything make it this.
